Abstract
MATERIALS AND METHODS: 224 patients were randomized to 2 groups, considering 112 patients in each groups with preset criteria. Pain during administration of anesthesia during surgery was graded on a visual analogue pain scale.Effectiveness of anesthesia from the surgeon point of view is graded and compared for both the techniques. Complications were also compared.
RESULT: 86 (76.79%) patients of Needleless anesthesia group and 43 (38.39%) of with Needle anesthesia group experienced no pain during administration of anesthesia. There was no significant difference between two techniques during the surgery in surgeon point of view. Peribulbar block group had slightly more complications. Conclusion: Needleless anesthesia is safe and better than peribulbar block at the time of administration, during manual SICS and post operative recovery.
