Abstract
Methods: 10 eyes of 10 patients who presented with a recurrent corneal epithelial breakdown were evaluated using epithelial thickness mapping software of AS-OCT
Results: All the patients gave a history of a corneal abrasion in the recent or remote past with a pin point object like a pencil or a finger nail. All eyes had an increase in epithelial thickness in the area of epithelial breakdown by about 15-20 microns than the normal values. After recovery the epithelial thickness returned back to its normal values.
Conclusion: Anterior Segment OCT is a valuable tool in evaluating the epithelial thickness in eyes with RCE. There was an increase in the thickness of the epithelial layer at the site of RCE, in spite of having an epithelial breakdown.
