Abstract
PURPOSE: To describe the management options available for weak or absent zonules (subluxated cataracts)
METHODS: Patients having unilateral or bilateral mild to severe pre existing zonular weakness or subluxated cataracts underwent cataract extraction along with capsule supporting devices like capsule hooks, Capsule Tension Ring, Cionni ring, Ahmed Segment or Assi anchor after obtaining a written informed consent. As per the intra operative scenario decision was made to implant single piece IOL in bag or 3 piece IOL in bag or suturing it to iris or Iris claw lens or scleral fixated IOL. All surgeries were managed successfully.
CONCLUSIONS: Zonular weakness or subluxated cataracts are challenging cases to manage. But with adequate knowledge and surgical expertise of using supporting devices and techniques we can provide good post operative vision rehabilitation to such patients.
