Abstract

A video based instruction course on tackling deferred cataract surgeries. The nearly mature cataracts deferred due to Covid 19 Lockdowns and a bar on cataract surgery are bound to develop into hard , ripened and white cataracts in the times when we resume elective surgeries. With new normal safety protocols we have to be ready to deal ! White cataracts may be soft or hard. In soft over mature ones alertness is required in every move in rhexis . In Harder ones there may be leathery posterior plates. With knowledge and skill it is possible to pick the best amongst enumerous choppers available and any one of the best chopping methods to tackle each case. Very frequently these ripe cataracts have zonuler dialysis which may require aids like CTR. Small pupils with Hard cataracts require careful choice of pupil expanders . Perils of handling such cataracts include posterior capsular trauma . Thus we need to be armed in our theatres with few extra equipment s for such cases !
