Abstract
This Instruction course will be a complete overhaul on the Myopia pandemic but with an Indian perspective. An up-to-date review and recommendations on how to profile childhood myopes, evaluate and treat them. The initial focus will be on profiling the patient and dispensing the right glasses. This will be followed by a review on halting myopia progression through lifestyle modifications, pharmacotherapy (atropine) and the more recent optical methods (Ortho-k, contact lenses, Progressives). A new and interesting aspect of Binocular vision evaluation in myopia has been included, as growing evidence indicates a role for accommodative lag in myopia progression. Surgical correction of strabismus will be discussed with pre-op evaluation and surgical videos. The IC will end with how to set up an effective myopia clinic in our day to day practice – tips and tricks to ensure happy and stable myopes.
