Abstract
A 10-yr-old child reported came with c/o diplopia since 1mth &loss of appetite for which she was given a multivitamin course by a paediatrician. After a detailed eye examination, she was diagnosed with convergence insufficiency- XP of 12PD N &4PD D, PFV-6/16/6, NPC-15cm. She was given office+home based convergence exercises & was symptom free in 1mth. However, she again came with c/o diplopia after 1mth & had ↑ XP of 25PD N & 10PD D, PFV-4/10/4 & ↑NPC-25cm. On further history taking, it was found that she also had irritable mood, loss of interest in learning &social activities which coincided with her changing of school. Thus, she was referred to a child psychiatrist. Results: The child was diagnosed with adjustment disorder &was started on psychological counselling. After 3mths of vision therapy, she became diplopia free. Conclusion:Mental health evaluation should be considered as an important assessment tool to give complete care to the child. A good rapport with a child, is a must.
