Abstract
Method : A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020 on all health care workers in a tertiary care institute in eastern India. A total of 120 participants were handed over a pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire after obtaining individual consent. Results were statistically analysed
Results : In the survey 90 (75%) responded. Mean age was 30.2 years. Male : female ratio was 1.4:1. Awareness on eye donation was 98.9% but 42.2% had knowledge about eye bank details and where to contact for donation. Mass media was the main channel of their knowledge. 65.6% strongly agreed to support awareness camp and 60% were ready to pledge their eyes
Conclusion : The study shows that there is good level of awareness among health care workers and they can be resource personnel for community awareness programme . A larger motivation is needed to gather support for future campaigns
