Abstract
A prospective hospital based study was done in a tertiary care hospital where 60 diagnosed cases of primary pterygium during one year were included. Detailed history was taken and thorough ocular examination was done which included visual aquity, slit lamp examination, intraocular pressure measurement, keratometry and fundus examination. Necessary investigations were done. Surgical intervention in the form of pterygium excision with conjunctival autograft using sutures was done. All the patients were followed up on post op day 1, at 2nd and 4th week and 6 months. Best corrected visual aquity was recorded at 4th week and 6 months. Conclusion- visual aquity specifically astigmatism reduced post operatively in majority of the patients. Recurrence was noted in 5% and occurred in patients below 25 years of age.
