Abstract

Retinal vein occlusion is a common cause of vision loss in older individuals and second most common retinal vascular disease after diabetic retinopathy. In central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) occlusion is at or proximal to lamina cribrosa of the optic nerve. COVID- 19 induced infection are associated with coagulopathy findings consistent with infection induced inflammatory changes.

Here, we present a case of a patient who presented with bilateral decrease in visual acuity diagnosed as bilateral CRVO on ophthalmic evaluation. Systemic work-up revealed the presence of underlying septicemia due to community acquired pneumonia with past history of diabetes and hypertension on medication. He was quarantined as a COVID 19 suspect. However the COVID rapid test came negative.
