Abstract
This study aims to provide the missing demographic data from western India to measure visual handicap in Glaucoma patients at tertiary eye centre
Study-Period:6 months
Method
After receiving the ethical approval, detailed Glaucoma evaluation was done of all Glaucoma patients visiting Glaucoma clinic. Statistical analysis was done and they were grouped into various levels of blindness termed by WHO.
Result
Out of 200 patients, 43% were between 50-70 years age. M:F ratio was 1.4:1.
77% patients had completed primary schooling and 44% belonged to urban communities.
POAG (41%) was the most common type followed by PACG (33.5%).
According to the NPCBVI criteria,46% patients fell into Grade0, 32.5% into Grade2, 14% into Grade3, 7% into Grade4.
Conclusions
With the recently received data of visual handicap in these patients, we can assess the influence of glaucoma on QOL and society. The study is still continuing to collect data of 1000 patients.
