Abstract
A retrospective study aimed to detect progression of visual field changes in early open angle glaucoma, and to determine how often a perimetric exam should be carried out and also its effect on the current treatment of the patient.Patients diagnosed with relatively recent manifestations of POAG were called for perimetric examination every 3 months. PLR criteria was used to determine progression.Patients were divided into high frequency and low frequency groups.and statistical analysis was performed to look for significant change of mean deviation over time. Results: A total 50 eyes were included in study.Statistical analysis of high frequency patients showed significance (more reliable, p value=0.007) whereas the low frequency group did not show significance (less reliable, p value=0.19) when only half the fields were considered. Conclusion: Perimetric examination must be done every 3 months instead of 6, especially in patients with early manifest primary open angle glaucoma.
