Abstract
A 71-year-old Asian Indian male under follow up for intermediate age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in both eyes for ten years developed choroidal neovascular membrane (CNVM) in the left eye for which he received intravitreal Ranibizumab (0.5mg/0.05 ml) three monthly loading doses followed by pro re nata (PRN). Subsequently, over two years, he developed three RPE apertures at different locations and different times with the presence of subretinal and sub RPE fluid for which he was treated with intravitreal Ranibizumab injection each time, and follow up OCT revealed resolution of fluid partially. All three RPE apertures were associated with the reappearance or increase of sub RPE fluid and subretinal fluid. The patient BCVA (OD) varied from 20/40 to 20/60 during follow up. All RPE apertures healed spontaneously. We report RPE aperture in CNVM which has not been previously reported.
