Abstract
Eyelashes roots are closely related and affected by the eyelid cancers that lead to its damage. Hair also get affected by chemotherapy and radiation used in the cancer treatment. We studied the eyelashes roots of lid cancers in fresh specimens during frozen sections procedure and compared them with the permanent sections. They were directly visualized under the high power objective of dissecting microscope (Leica S 6D) and compound microscope (Axioskop 40 -Axio Cam MRc). Hematoxylin – eosin stain were done in some of the cases. Tumor invasion of the roots of the eyelashes were analyzed and documented. Eyelash change was found to be significant for Sebaceous gland carcinoma in the form of ring like tumor infiltration, bleeding, excretions of tumor cells on the shaft with a moth eaten appearance. It was followed by Squamous cell carcinoma and near normal change was observed in Basal cell carcinoma.
