Abstract

BACKGROUND: Choroidal melanoma is the most common primary intraocular malignant tumour in adults.

A 35year old female presented with progressively growing blackish mass with pain and DOV in left eye for 3 months

Visual acuity:

OD: 6/6

OS: PL Negative

Ophthalmic examination:

OD: No abnormality detected

OS: Couldn’t be assessed

CECT Orbit revealed heterogeneously enhancing mass with internal dense calcification in left eye globe and intraconal region

MRI Orbit revealed involvement of anterior part of medial rectus and posterior extension along the optic nerve

CECT chest revealed calcified granuloma in apico basal segment of left lower lobe

CONCLUSION: An advanced case of choroidal melanoma with metastasis

HPE showed malignant cells having hyperchromatic nuclei, prominent nucleoli and intracytoplamic melanin pigment

SURGICAL INTERVENTION: Left orbital exenteration with left superficial parotidectomy with left level 1 lymph node dissection with temporalis muscle myocutaneous flap
