Abstract
Method –A 70year old male presented with a chief complaint of foreign body sensation in his left eye and mass on his left eye upper lid since 2 years. On lid eversion a fungating growth of 15 mm * 8 mm from inner margin of nasal side of upper lid was seen. Mass surface was irregular with areas of necrosis, yellowish discharge and active bleeding. The upper lid margin was distorted and was associated with a loss of eyelashes.Clinically it was difficult to differentiate between squamous cell carcinoma and meibomian gland carcinoma. Patient was taken up for surgery where excision with 2 mm of normal adjoining upper lid was excised and direct closure of lid was done. Mass was sent for histopathological evaluation.
Result-Histopathology report revealed squamous cell carcinoma. Good wound apposition and lid function was achieved postoperatively.
