Abstract
AIM:To study functional & cosmetic outcome of SBSS frontalis sling Vs three stab in congenital ptosis.
METHODS:60 patients, all aged > 5 years with congenital ptosis with poor levator function ≤ 4mm were included.30 patients-SBSS frontalis sling surgery using Aurosling & 30 three stab.Post operative evaluation for lid & suprabrow edema, pain, discomfort & functional outcomes using parameters vertical fissure height,MRD-1,lagophthalmos & lid closure.
RESULTS:Lid contour & lid crease symmetry were good in 80%cases(n=24) in SBSS,eyelid crease formation was satisfactory in all cases. Less postoperative scarring(n=2),edema & excellent cosmesis as compared to the three-stab technique where 40%cases(n=12)had scarring & 27%cases(n=8)edema.
CONCLUSION:SBSS,while retaining usual advantages & functional results of standard sling procedures,is associated with decreased intraoperative bleeding, reduced postoperative edema & scarring as compared to Three stab technique
