Abstract
Making someone happy or keeping someone happy is one of the most arduous task and especially with cataract surgery ,where results are on table and patient has paid you ( chances someone in his family has had a free surgery ), is a Himalayan task.
Result of cataract surgery is multifactorial dependant. Its imperative to understand patients realistic and unrealistic expectation and communicate with him prior to surgery. Detailed pre op evaluation with special emphasis on biometry, IOL selection, managing ocular surface disorders and dry eyes is a pre-empt for happy patient. Emphasis on perfection in every surgical step with special focus on managing astigmatism will be discussed.Common, early and late post-op discomforts will be dealt in details.Psychological, attitudinal, emotional, verbal and behaviour reactions of unhappy patients will be evaluated and ways to anticipate and manage them so as to retain their confidence & faith and make it a win win situation will be a highlight.
