Abstract
Recurrent RDs which are some of the most challenging cases faced by a VR surgeon. This video depicts manoeuvres aimed at helping to simplify the management of recurrent retinal detachments.
We use basic principles of refined surgical techniques and innovative tamponades to achieve best possible outcomes for recurrent RD. These include bimanual techniques to manage extensive membranes, using brilliant blue dye to find occult breaks, as well as a novel ‘tug of war’ manoeuvre for tackling anterior PVR. Using time-tested, as well as innovative surgical principles and techniques good anatomical and functional outcomes could be achieved in theses challenging cases.
The message from this video is that when confronted with challenging recurrent detachments, one should remain calm and diligently proceed. The tips and tricks shown in this video which would help in obtaining a good surgical outcome and outwitting this fox!
