Abstract
Treatment of pterygium is essentially surgical excision. However, recurrence at the site of surgery is the most common unacceptable complication. With changing time, various modifications in surgical technique have been tried with varying success rates. During the past decade, the debate over the best approach to pterygium surgery has centred on whether to use sutures or fibrin glue to affix the conjunctival graft. But in latest twist; a novel approach, in which the patient’s own blood is used for fixation. This instruction course will cover various surgical options in the management of primary & recurrent pterygium. The topics here will demonstrate various surgical techniques, graft fixation and adjunctive measures in achieving recurrence – free pterygium surgery.
