Abstract
Normal tension glaucoma (NTG) is an exception in the “glaucoma family” where the major risk factor,
increased intraocular pressure, is missing. If not increased intraocular pressure, then what other causes
can then lead to glaucomatous optic disc change and visual field loss in NTG? What are the other ocular
morbidities that simulate Glaucoma ? What special investigations will you need to think of? Can you treat
it like a case of POAG? will it need further systemic work up? what if the patient has systemic hypotension?
when should sleep apnoea studies be done? what about looking for Ocular perfusion? does the Color
Doppler or OCTA have a role to play? Any special considerations with medical management? how low
is low enough? Is MIGS / trabeculectomy the way to go? So many questions are faced by the treating
physician. What is the right way to deal with NTG? All your questions have been dealt with in this IC.
