Abstract
Vitreoretinal surgeries can be a challenge in the presence of anterior segment opacification like in corneal scars, dense pupillary membranes ,microbial keratitis and in presence of keratoprostheis. Using a temporary keratoprosthesis (TKpro) can help overcome the limitations of anterior segment opacification but a TKpro procedure is fraught with complications and also has an obligatory need for a subsequent immediate corneal allograft. An ophthalmic endoscope allows for a direct approach and visualization of the vitreous cavity, allows for a better and more thorough vitreous clearance and an assessment of retinal integrity and visual potential. In the current instruction course we look at explaining the setup and various applications of endoscopy in vitreoretinal surgeries including its application in prognosticating before complex corneal procedures, its utility in managing ocular trauma and in special conditions like microbial keratitis and endophthalmitis
