Abstract

Management of refractive errors in children is one of the greatest challenges for all ophthalmologists. Evaluation and prescription in refractive errors in children is very different than in adults. The way the errors are recognised and managed requires skill and understanding. The process of emmetropisation and development of refractive errors in children has to be clearly understood before prescribing any spectacles. Unfortunately ,most of opthalmologists do not understand and recognise the process by which errors should be evaluated and corrected.

With the surge in myopia, becoming a blinding disease, its proper and recent management has has become very important for all practitioners, as improper management will result in life long visual impairment.

The IC will, therefore, comprise of the ways of proper cycloplegic refractions, how each type of error should be managed, and the type and variety of spectacles needed for children
