Abstract
Purpose: Since inception of intravitreal anti-VEGF injection to treat DME since last 15 years ,resistance(R) to same has been an unsolved issue. This study tests the role of vitaminC,E,B etc to prevent this Resistance. Methods: 207 patients of huge DME(CMT>600 micron )& Va<0.6 (From retina clinic by June,2019 to September,2019) were randomly assigned in any of the two groups. One group(102) has been injected with monthly intravitreal Ranibizumab inj for 6 months with additional drugs viz.vitC(500mcg),vitE(400mcg)&vitB complex(B1,B2,B3,B6).Other group(105) received only intravitral Ranibizumab injections for same frequency and duration.Patients were followed up for at least 6 months. Results: The group with additional therapy showed better and sustained visual outcomes and structural improvement(reduced CMT on OCT) with positive correlation with young age, better glycemic control.Inference: Additional therapy holds promising results against resistance to anti-VEGF in huge DME.
