Abstract
Epiphora owing to lacrimal outflow obstruction affects the quality of life by causing blurred vision, irritation of the eye and social embarrassment. Its standard treatment is dacryocystorhinostomy in nasolacrimal duct obstruction and conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy with Jones tube intubation in canalicular obstruction.Jones tube, however, have a high rate of displacement and the need of one more procedure to address this issue results in dissatisfaction among patients.Inj Botulinum toxin has been successfully used to treat excess tear production in gustatory hyperlacrimation owing to aberrant regeneration in proximal facial nerve injuries. But few studies have reported worldwide and in India regarding its use in the treatment of refractory epiphora in canalicular obstruction due to trauma. This study was conducted to assess how effective is Inj botulinum toxin in our study group. The study was prospective interventional non comparative study and was conducted over a period of 06 months.
