Abstract
INTRODUCTION:Choroidal melanoma is rare but most common primary intraocular tumor seen in adults. Incidence are higher in Caucasians but extremely rare in Asian and black ethnicity. It can be asymptomatic and detected incidentally on fundus examination.
CASE REPORT:46 years old man with hepatitis B presented with bilateral ocular pain associated with blurring of vision since 8 months. On ocular examination right eye had intercalary staphyloma, corneal odema and diffuse hyphaema.MRI showed bilateral choroidal melanoma.Biopsy could not be performed because of severe anemia due to which patient suddenly collapsed and died.
CONCLUSION: It has very poor prognosis because of rapid distant metastasis leading to high mortality. Association with hepatitis B makes it difficult for the diagnosis and treatment of patient. We should be vigilant for the management to prevent unwanted consequences.
