Abstract
Aim: To study the use of teleconsultation in uveitis in covid-19 era.
Methodology: It is a prospective case study analysing to use of teleconsultation in uveitis patient during the covid-19 pandemic. Teleconsultation was as per the telemedicine practice guidelines by the Indian Government published on March 25, 2020 and AIOS guidelines, the patient willing to participate in the study were recruited. After informed consent the patient underwent video/audio/email teleconsultation for uvea and related diseases. The patient was given drug prescription and case summary .The cases with persistent/worsening of symptoms were referred to hospital for further management.
Results: Total 90 patients were analysed. 5 out of those 90 belonged to the paediatric age group. Base hospital referrals were 30% of total teleconsultation. Patient satisfaction was 94%.
Conclusion: Teleconsultation was an additional mode enabling ophthalmologists to continue ophthalmic care during covid-19 pandemic.
