Abstract
Purpose: To study the clinical features & outcomes in PCV in eyes with varying sub-foveal choroidal thickness (SFCT).
Methods: Treatment-naïve PCV diagnosed by ‘EVEREST -2’ criteria were included. Eyes were divided into 3 groups: thin, medium, and thick choroids, based on the SFCT. Clinical, imaging features & treatment outcomes between 3 groups were compared.
Results: 68 eyes in 63 patients were included. Mean age was 68.5 ± 6.95 years (range: 54-85years). Mean SFCT was 275 μm (median = 269 μm) & 1 SD was 78.1μm. 12, 46 and 10 eyes were included in the thin, medium & thick choroid groups respectively. Mean SFCT was 164 ± 25.2 μm, 275 ± 37.8 μm and 411 ± 25 μm in the thin, medium and thick choroid groups respectively. No statistically significant difference was noted between the 3 SFCT groups.
Conclusion: Eyes with PCV can have a choroid of varying thicknesses. Clinical, imaging & treatment response were similar between the 3 SFCT groups in this study.
