Abstract
STUDY DESIGN: Prospective comparative study.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: 28 eyes of 28 patients with primary pterygium, age group 15-49 years, included in the study. Graft was encouraged for natural adhesion to the scleral bed for 10-12 min. in 14 eyes (Group 1). Fibrin glue was used to fix graft at place in rest 14 eyes (Group 2).
RESULT: After 6 month of follow up, 25 of 28 eyes(11 Group 1, 14 Group 2) were free of recurrence. 1 eye from group 1 had loss of the graft and 2 had the recurrence. While in group 2, no recurrence and no loss of graft seen. No intraoperative complication seen.
CONCLUSION: Study showed that fibrin glue surgery was more effective in preventing recurrence. Surgery was more cost effective without glue or suture and less discomfort. So graft without using glue or suture can be usefully in low socioeconomic patients.
