Abstract
Aggressive posterior retinopathy of prematurity (APROP) is a severe form of retinopathy requiring urgent treatment and may still rapidly progress to stage 5. APROP presenting with advanced stage retinopathy have poorer prognosis because of the extensive neovascularisation and fibrovascular tissue. Herein, we report a case of preterm baby with APROP having retinal detachment involving macular treated with combined approach including lens-sparing pars-plana vitrectomy, laser and intravitreal ranibizumab. Complete regression of the disease with improvement in zone of vascularisation was seen at the end of the three months. This case highlights the importance and advantages of a combined approach in APROP with advanced stage retinopathy.
