Abstract
Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a posterior segment disease characterized by localized and limited serous detachments of the neurosensory retina; refractoriness to treatment and chronicity are known to cause permanent diminution in visual acuity.
This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of subthreshold micropulse laser (STMP) for treating cases of nonresolving CSC with subfoveal leaks. This study include multiple testing methods, viz visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, clinical examination, Optical coherence tomography, Fundus autofluorescence, FFA to maximize the detection and evaluation of effect of STMP laser.
The results were analysed using Wilcoxon signed-rank test. We report significant improvement in best corrected visual acuity and early resolution of subretinal fluid.
This study differs from previous studies in using new modality of treatment in the form of 532nm STMP laser, also this is the first study conducted within the Armed forces of India.
