Abstract
PURPOSE–To evaluate the effect of macular ischemia on central foveal thickness (CFT) using SD-OCT in BRVO
METHOD–The study included 20 eyes of 20 BRVO patients and divided into three groups on the basis of macular perfusion by fluorescein angiography: group 1(4 eyes) included patients with fully perfused macular area(FPA), group 2 (10 eyes) had partially perfused macular area(PPA), group 3(6 eyes) had non-perfused macular area(NPA).CFT was measured in each patient and analyzed using SDOCT.
RESULT–Mean CFT in group 1 was found to be 250.5±34.2µm, 566.2± 168.61µm in group 2 and 301.0±31.86µm in group 3. CFT was significantly higher in group 2(p=0.003) and group 3(p=0.04) as compared to group 1, also higher in group 2(p= 0.002) when compared to group 3.
CONCLUSION–Patients with partially perfused macular area tend to have macular edema with high central foveal thickness. Therefore, we can predict the status of macular perfusion by measuring central foveal thickness in BRVO.
