Abstract
PURPOSE:To study the OCT characteristics of the corneal wound in FLACS and MICS.METHOD:40 eyes each that underwent FLACS and MICS were included in this prospective study. AS OCT of the main corneal wound was studied on days 1,4 and 21.The state of epithelium, stromal apposition, planarity of wound, inner lip of wound, state of descemets membrane and thickness of the wound were the parameters compared.RESULT:The epithelial defects were significantly more in FLACS (p=0.05), stromal apposition was comparable, FLACS incisions were found to be triplanar at the first visit; MICS were uniplanar. The inner lip of wound was comparable but descemets detachment were more noted in MICS.CONCLUSION:Parameters of wound integrity were comparable between FLACS and MICS groups, however, descemets detachment was markedly lower in patients undergoing FLACS.
