Abstract

Purpose– ocular toxic effects & results of treatment following accidental injury by calotropis juice.

Method- 15 cases examined within one year. s/l examination,VA,specular ,IOP, was measured(nct). Thorough washing with ringers lactate, dexamethasone e/d&oint, carboxy methylcellulose drop , vitApalmitate and carbomerophthalmic gel given .Anti glaucoma &cycloplegics given when required . Patients observed at 24hr,3 day,1st,2nd week,1st2nd3rdmonth

Observation- 9F 6M,age >50 in all,12 cases in feb march 3 in aug,bcva>6/60 (5)6/60 to 3/60 (6) <3/60 (4)cases, unilateral(10), bilateral(5)Conjunctival congestion15,pain10,ciliary congetion4,corneal epithelial defect5,stromal edema15,DM folds10,raised IOP3. After 1 wkconj congetion3,DM fold2,bcva improved , endothelial cell count < 2 case. After 1and 3 month
