Abstract
Congenital dacryocystitis is a common pathology of the nasolacrimal drainage system with which a child is born. Initially conservative mode of treatment is tried with antibiotic coverage and massage on the lacrimal sac area known as Crigler massage.
Aim: To determine the efficacy of Crigler massage in the management of congenital dacryocystitis.
Materials and method: An observational study was done in which 30 children below the age of 6 month, presenting with epiphora without any obvious cause was treated by topical antibiotic drops along with Crigler massage and followed up for a period of 6 months.
Results: Out of the 30 children ,managed with antibiotic eye drop along with crigler massage 24 showed clinical improvement after 6 month of treatment.
Conclusion: Crigler massage is a very effective method in the conservative management of congenital dacryocystitis. It helps in clinical improvement of the the congenital dacryocystitis if performed in the proper way
