Abstract
Purpose:To document unusual case of fractured intraocular lens dislocation in subconjunctival space due to trauma.Methods:A 40 yr male presented with two week history of blunt trauma caused by cow horn injury while milking.His complaints was marked diminution of vision,pain and redness in right eye.He underwent cataract surgery with IOL implantation 5 years back.On examination right eye BCVA was hand movement,PCIOL seen in the anterior chamber with a broken haptic migrated into supero-temporal subconjunctival space.There was peaking of pupil.Fundus detail was not seen due to marked vitritis.Results:Patient was managed surgically;IOL was explanted from AC,broken haptic was removed and sclera wound was repaired.Sclera fixated IOL was implanted after six week.Postoperative period was uneventful and final visual acuity was 6/36.Conclusion:Cow horn injury with IOL dislocation is a rare phenomenon but can cause severe ocular morbidity.Previous cataract surgery predisposes for sclera rupture.
