Abstract
An Intraorbital foreign body is an important cause of ocular morbidity. A10-year-old girl presented to us with orbital trauma, ocular examination showed denial of perception of light in left eye with mild ptosis and the contour of globe could not be assessed. There was conjunctival hyperaemia, chemosis & lid oedema along with traumatic laceration in left upper eyelid. B scan shows oedematous upper and lower lid with soft tissue swelling .NECT showed hyper density s/o F.B. MRI showed both intraconal and extraconal soft tissue swelling with inflammatory changes with no features s/o F.B. A 3D reconstructed MRI Facio-maxillary region shows a break in the greater wing of sphenoid on left side and haemorrhagic contusion in left temporal lobe .Post orbital exploration, two pieces of wood were removed, with resolution of the periorbital oedema and conjunctival chemosis. So, a high index of suspicion for IOfb, even in trivial trauma with a low threshold for imaging studies is important.
