Abstract
AIM: To demonstrate the mode of management and outcomes in 2 patients with eyelid and adnexal injuries following road traffic accident.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
2 patients with extensive eyelid and adnexal injuries presented to us in June 2020 associated with severe skin and subcutaneous tissue loss following road traffic accident were managed after a thorough ophthalmic evaluation and wound cleansing. Both the injuries were reconstructed by using a combination of local flaps and free skin graft to avoid any kind of traction on the eyelids.
RESULTS:
We could achieve good results in both the cases cosmetically as well as functionally. There were no incidences of graft rejection, necrosis, wound dehiscence and infection.
CONCLUSION:
Managing eyelid and adnexal injuries with significant soft tissue loss is a challenge and needs meticulous planning to achieve good cosmetic and functional outcome as a minor aberration can lead to multiple surgeries and complications.
