Abstract
Aim: To study the postoperative changes in the ocular parameters in patients undergoing trabeculectomy. Method: Study included 40 eyes which underwent surgery. AC Depth, Central Corneal Thickness, axial length and corneal diameter measured pre and post operatively. Results: After surgery, ACD reduced on postop day 1, gradually increased to become almost same as its pre-operative value. There was no significant change in the CCT after surgery. Axial length reduced compared to its preoperative value post surgery. There was reduction in corneal diameter after surgery. Conclusions: Trabeculectomy can alter axial length, ACD and corneal diameter. To achieve the best refractive outcome in these patients, it is better to delay cataract surgery and lens implantation if possible until ACD, AL and corneal diameter changes stabilize. Such type of study is rare in Indian context and the result in our study are different than similar studies done in western world.
