Abstract
Introduction: Duane retraction syndrome is a type of congenital cranial dysinnervation disorder. Type 1 DRS is the predominant type. Case History: A 26yr/F presented with gradual progressive diminution of vision BEs since last 10 years. BCVA was CF 2 meters BE’s. Axial length was 32.95 mm RE and 31.15 mm LE. Fundoscopy revealed features of pathological myopia. On ocular motility assessment, there was limited abduction and normal adduction in BE’s. On attempted adduction, there was globe retraction with upshoot in LE and downshoot in RE. Esotropia was present in primary position. The patient was diagnosed with Bilateral DRS Type 1 with Pathological Myopia and Ametropic Amblyopia. Conclusion: DRS has been reported with hypermetropia. This case demonstrates the rare occurrence of DRS Type 1 with pathological myopia. Further studies are required to prove their definite association.
