Abstract
Morning glory syndrome(MGS)is a rare but close association of basal encephalocele. Fortyfive year old female presented with 20/20 vision and watery discharge from left eye with history of two lacrimal sac surgeries. Examination revealed a depressed, broad nasal bridge with hypertelorism. Regurgitation test was positive.Visual acuity in right eye was perception of light and fundus showed a pale funnel shaped excavated disc, arteriolar attenuation with vessels arranged like spokes of a wheel, pathognomonic of MGS. Computerised Tomography(CT)orbit revealed bony defect in floor of anterior cranial fossa with cerebrospinal fluid herniating into anterior ethmoidal sinus. CT-Dacryocystography showed deficiency of proximal part of left naso-lacrimal duct, suggesting naso-ethmoidal encephalocele, a subtype of basal encephalocele. Basal encephaloceles usually present as midline cranio-facial anomalies. Association with MGS and chronic dacryocystitis is an unusual presentation
