Abstract
Aim: To evaluate whether stereo acuity improves following strabismus correction and its impact on different types of strabismus.
Method: We enrolled 69 children diagnosed with strabismus. Vision, ocular examination and appropriate squint workup was done along with stereo acuity measurement using Titmus fly test. Same protocol was followed post correction of squint after 3 months.
Result: In our retrospective cohort, the mean age of children was 10.1 ± 4.5. A significant improvement in vision and stereo acuity was found after treatment (p=0.00) in these children. Median stereopsis pre and post correction was 800 and 400 respectively. When we compared constant type of strabismus we found significant difference(p=0.00) in stereo acuity unlike in case of alternate strabismus.(p=44)
Conclusion: Appropriate treatment makes functional changes in terms of stereo acuity after successful management of squint.
