Abstract

Purpose : To assess the effectiveness of dichoptic treatment and compare this with part-time patching in older age group amblyopic patients.

Method : 60 anisometropic amblyopic patients between 10-30 years age group were randomly distributed .Game group played Dichoptic games through anaglyphic glasses in smart phone for 1 Hour /day and Patch group covered fellow eye with skin patch for 2 Hour/day for 16 weeks. BCVA was measured at baseline, 4,8,12, 16 and 20weeks.

Result : Final outcome include 51 patients with mean(SD) age of 16.8 (4.8) years.After 16 weeks mean(SD) BCVA improvement of 0.35(0.20) snellen’s fraction acuity relative (approximately 2 lines of Snellen’s chart) with binocular treatment was more than the 0.26(0.17) ) snellen’s fraction acuity relative (approximately 1 line ) improvement found with patching.

Conclusion : Binocular treatment was effective in treating amblyopia in 10-30 years age group and was more efficacious than patching at the 16-week visit
