Abstract
Purpose:To study multimodal imaging (MMI) features of retinocytoma
Methods:This retrospective study includes 12 retinocytomas in 11 eyes of 10 patients diagnosed between 2015-2019.Patients underwent USG,MRI,colour fundus photo, autofluorescence,FFA,OCT and OCTA.
Results:Classic triad of translucent mass, calcification and pigmentary change was seen in 50 % tumors.66.67% had chorioretinal atrophy and 33.33% had cystic changes.Of 6 tumors imaged with OCT,RNFL was discernable in 100%.Other inner retinal layers could be identified in 50%.Most cysts were in the inner nuclear layer.Choroidal thinning was universal.OCTA showed choriocapillaris loss with intact superficial and deep capillary plexuses.FFA revealed diffuse hyperfluorescence with corkscrew vessels.
Conclusion:MMI provides new insights into pathology and natural history of retinocytomas and is an excellent tool for serial monitoring.Retinal layer differentiation in retinocytoma is a novel and previously unreported finding.
