Abstract
The study compares outcomes from patients in a District General Hospital in UK on visual and OCT outcomes achieved by patients on either Eylea ( Aflibercept) or Lucentis ( Ranibizumab). The patients chosen were all new patients with no prior treatment. The protocol used was 3 loading doses for each injection followed by PRN dosing for Lucentis and 8 weekly injections for Eylea. The study followed up patients for one calendar year ( 12 months). No statistical difference was found in visual outcomes for patients in either group. There were no adverse events reported in either group. This study gives us valuable information to make a long term management plan with patients on which injection to chose for treatment. If cost is not a concern, the frequency of injections could be a significant point to discuss with patients as can affect the overall quality of life.
