Abstract
Introduction:-Pediatric developmental eye abnormalities in children need special considerations in anesthesia /procedures. Effectiveness improvement can be assessed by audit and serial audits
Method : We did surgical audits of procedures done over ten years across 12 units in two cities and analysed results and did multiple regression analysis to examine what factors predict good results.
Results : 1267 patient across 12 pediatric ophthalmology clinics across two cities, were analysed .12 cases of EEC syndrome and lacrimal involvement, 14 cryptophthalmos , 53 dermoids , 18 telecanthus, 8 aniridia besides other cases. Odds ratios were calculated for different conditions . eg preoperative asymmetry in bilateral lid conditions was a significant risk factor for reoperation, with an odds ratio of 1.8 (p = 0.009). Application of audit results improved chances of success by 11 % to 36 % in all cases
Conclusion:- Application of learning from audit cycles show significant result improvement
