Abstract
We report a rare case of CRAO in a patient after cataract surgery through phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia, without any intraoperative complications following prompt management and the vision improved from perception of light to 6/18p. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of CRAO being reported following an uneventful topical phacoemulsification.
So ophthalmologist should be aware of the fact that dreaded complication like CRAO can precipitate after cataract surgery even after topical anaesthesia. Hence, in a patient with known risk factors, one should discuss and make the patient aware of the symptoms. Early presentation with proper management can help to salvage the vision in this condition.
