Abstract
Aim- to describe the role of B scans ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of blunt ocular trauma of eyes in patients with media opacities.Material and methods-this study included 76 consecutive patients attending the OPD of a RIO in western Odisha. with blunt trauma and media opacity during the period from sept’19 to april’20.exclusion criteria were penetrating trauma,previous ocular surgery.patient were sent for B scan. The ultrasound diagnosis was compared with clinical diagnosis.Result-a total of 76 patients had Bscan USG.58% were female.the mean age 35.2 yrs.patients were either housewives (34%) or children (25%)..ocular B scan was normal in 5.the correlation between clinical diagnosis and B scan diagnosis was 58.9%.Conclusion-the correlation between clinical diagnosis and b scan diagnosis was only 58.9% implying that in almost 41 % of instances b scan may make a finding that is missed by clinical exams .hence it is an important investigation in trauma and hazy media cases.
