Abstract
Nanophthalmos is characterized by axial length <20.50cm. Management of glaucoma in these patients is a challenge. In this prospective study, total 22 eyes of 15 individuals with nanophthalmos were included. Their intraocular pressures(IOP), visual acuity, axial length, anterior segment details and cup-disc ratio were recorded. Mean age was 31.95 years, median CDR was 0.9 at presentation. Preoperative mean Lens thickness and Anterior chamber depth were 4.47mm and 2.22mm respectively and mean Axial Length was 19.86. Mean IOP at baseline was recorded as 34.18mmHg and first follow up visit on 7thday post-operative was 18.45mmHg.Peripheral iridectomy was done in 10 eyes,12 underwent phacoemulsification+/-goniotomy, 6 eyes had trabeculectomy and 2 eyes were managed with anti-glaucoma drops. Eyes with nanophthalmos have a low ACD which could be explained by a relatively increased Lens thickness. In Nanophthalmos with glaucoma, phacoemulsification+/-goniotomy can control the IOP significantly.
