Abstract
AIM: Study was performed to investigate the clinical manifestation and various etiologies of optic disc edema
METHOD: Cross sectional observational study carried out from August 2019- february2020 on 49 patients of optic disc edema.
INVESTIGATION:Detailed ocular examination done like visual acuity,color vision,pupillary reaction, slitlamp examination, fundus examination with indirect ophthalmoscope and 90D, fundus photography Blood examination , CTand MRI when required
OBSERVATION: 49 consecutive cases with disc edema were enrolled. 22 female 27 male Out of 49 cases 18 had papilledema,23 optic neuritis,3 diabetic papillopathy, 2 gradeIV hypertensive retinopathy ,2 CRVO ,1 AION. A total of 46.93% optic neuritis,36.73% papilledema, 6.12% diabetic papillopathy, 4.08% hypertensive retinopathy and CRVO each, 2.04% AION.
CONCLUSION: Optic neuritis was the commonest cause followed by papillaedema leading to optic disc edema.
