Abstract
PURPOSE: To find of the cause of transient diminution of vision in a patient who presented with pain and redness in left eye with history of blunt trauma.
METHOD: The patient was followed up and vision, bscan and slit lamp examination was done. Fundus appeared normal. Topical antibiotic and anti-inflammatory was started.
RESULT: Vision of the patient kept deteriorating till the 3rd day after presentation, which improved with myopic correction, along with increase in lens thickness and decreased AC depth. The patient spontaneously started improving and gave a vision of 6/6 on the 6th day with normal lens thickness and AC depth.
CONCLUSION: Transient traumatic myopia after blunt trauma was seen as there was increase in thickness of lens. Axial length & vitreous cavity remained unchanged. It was the forward movement of anterior lens surface which resulted in shallow AC. Myopia may have resulted from effusion of cilliary body which spontaneously resolved after the effusion subsided.
